And since they're both over 11lbs, they certainly not. But they are "Tweenies" -- at a whopping 14-15lbs.

We have really tried to reduce their weight. We walk the dogs regularly and also feed them less food. We now give them 1/3 c of food each in the morning and evening. I was told that that wasn't too much. But when we give them less, they are still wandering the house and yard looking for anything to eat!

I've heard of course about the issues with the back, so we are trying to be as cautious and healthy for them as possible.

They are totally our little children. :)

How cute is this? :)

The Dog's Vaction From Us Went Well

The whole pet-sitting experience was great! She text'd us while we were away each night to let us know how the girls were doing. It was so calming to get the msgs... I really missed those two.

And also, when we got back home the pet-sitter left us a nice "Welcome Home" card on our counter to see. She was so thoughtful!

We'll definitely recommend her to our local friends in AZ.

I guess that's the point of having a licensed and bonded pet sitter; so that we'll be able to enjoy our time away and not worry. I think the dogs enjoyed it too. Typically when we pick them up from the kennels, they are depressed for a couple days. They miss all of their friends that they were hanging out with. But since they were home this time, they weren't depressed at all.

Our First Dog Sitting experience... coming up!

Okay, so in the interest of saving money... we are using a licensed and insured "Dog Sitter" on our next vacation/trip. I'm actually kinda excited!

We've always brought the girls to a great doggie-daycare/boarding place; where they LOVE the attention and love playing with all the other cute canines. BUT... they keep raising their daily prices... and now they're up to around $50-60/day for our two small doggies - -OUCH!

So, I looked online at my local Chamber of Commerce and found Christine w/ Tail Waggers. She came over for a visit.. naturally, the girls love her already and she is so great with the dogs!

She charges $18 for one visit and $30 for two visits/day. Not bad! And... she's licensed and bonded! She'll even pick up our mail and water my fake plants for me.

We just saved... like $300! (That's 7.5 tanks for my Prius...)

Dog mani-pedi's

$8.00 to get your dog's nails trimmed. And I mean barely trimmed! I guess it's alright... but they recommend that you should get your dog's nails trimmed every other week. That's pretty pricey for two dogs...

I just brought Stella to PetSmart to get her nails trimmed. Lucy's turn was two days ago.

I've tried cutting them myself at home, but they're too squirmy. Or maybe I'm using a bad nail trimmer? Of course, the one I bought a couple years ago was a "cheap" model. So I bought the model that they use at PetSmart for $9.99. Maybe that'll make a difference?

I just feel bad... like I'm neglected my dog's personal care. I definitely don't get them trimmed as often as I should. I'm so afraid that their nails will grow abnormally or something.

Well, at least they're both trimmed this week.
